After working ten years as a model, Alexa began her design career with studies in Germany and at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands. Upon graduating, she went independent in 2007 and set up her company AlexaLixfeld Design GmbH one year later. Alexa Lixfeld is a design studio, consultancy and production company in Hamburg, Germany. The studio engages in designing extraordinary items as much as in delivering them to the public. With its kaleidoscopic portfolio ranging from concrete and porcelain tableware to cashmere products, children’s dolls and a fragrance collection, Alexa Lixfeld is deeply a project enterprise. We make work by its interest and appeal, not by its fitting a sales profile. The red thread in our production is our strife to make the impossible become real. We do not set out to simply dream
up things exotic in their ways of making, but work hard to make them live. We take on building an economy of the special. Each of our productions is a non-industrial, non-standard, non-exploitative, individually approved good, and each of them we make reality ourselves. Doing so allows us to bring you goods that, in the integrity of the project, would not be viable the industrial way – or, in other words, would not exist. For her designs as much as for her productive achievements, Alexa has been awarded many design prizes, including an IF Concept Award, a Lucky Strike Junior Design Awards special mention, and Material
ConneXion’s Certificate of Material Excellence. Her work is constantly on show somewhere
in the world and has been exhibited e.g. at Marta Herford, Rossana Orlandi (Milan) and Gallery Slott (Paris). It is part of the MAK Frankfurt’s permanent collection. Our retailers’ list includes many of the world’s most forefront homeware and design stores on your way from New York to Paris, London, Milan, Moscow and Tokyo.
